SCR Scavenger Hunt 2026
Last Friday, we swapped spreadsheets and emails for something a little more adventurous: an office-wide scavenger hunt across Leicester city centre. What started as a simple team-building activity quickly evolved into a surprisingly competitive (and entertaining) afternoon.
The setup was straightforward: teams, a list of clues, and the pressure of a ticking clock, all kindly organised by our Branch Manager, Joe. From there, it was a frantic mix of navigating the streets, deciphering cryptic hints, and relying on a little bit of luck. While some clues were direct, others sent us in entirely the wrong direction, leading to several sheepish U-turns.
The hunt took us to various corners of the city, including spots many of us usually walk past without a second thought. Challenges ranged from searching the aisles of Tesco to scouring buildings for specific street numbers, which must have looked rather peculiar to anyone out for a quiet midday stroll.
What stood out most was the contrast in strategies. Some teams were methodical and calculated, while others simply moved quickly and hoped for the best. Either way, there were plenty of last-minute breakthroughs and a fair amount of sprinting as the timer ran down.
In the end, it was a close call between two teams, but Paul, Ellie, and Abbie ultimately emerged victorious. Their only real “failure” was neglecting to provide Joe with a celebratory beer by the finish line! Huge congratulations to the three of them for taking the win.
The real highlight was comparing notes afterwards to see how each team tackled the clues and where things went spectacularly wrong. All in all, it was a great reminder that stepping away from the usual routine is always worth it. We would all definitely take part again, though perhaps with a little less overthinking next time.
