SCR Book Club: The Silent Patient

Our January book, The Silent Patient, was chosen by Neve Sanchez. The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides is a psychological thriller that follows Alicia Berenson, a famous painter who seemingly has the perfect lifeโ€”until she is found standing over her husband’s dead body, having shot him five times. After the murder, Alicia stops speaking entirely, refusing to explain her actions. Theo Faber, a determined forensic psychotherapist, becomes obsessed with unraveling the mystery of her silence and uncovering the truth about what really happened that night. As he delves deeper into her past, shocking secrets and unexpected twists emerge, leading to a gripping and explosive conclusion.

The members of the book club met up after work one Friday for a discussion of the book and to wind down together in the Cosy Club, Leicester.
